Women Aging into Poverty

Thursday, May 24, 2018 | 2:30 - 4:00 PM
Communities Foundation of Texas

Increasingly, the economic security of today’s families’ rests on the shoulders of women. two thirds of mothers are either sole breadwinners, primary breadwinners, or co-breadwinners (earning 25-49% as their partners). With this increased responsibility to bring income into the household, the reality is that women are earning less assets and have less opportunity to build assets for retirement and long-term financial security. Much of that future insecurity is related to systemic factors created before women were a major source of economic stability for families.

Join us to hear from Amy Castro Baker, Ph.D., MSW, Assistant Professor of School of Social Policy & Practice, University of Pennsylvania, as she discusses this issue and how groups can collectively advance policies and practical strategies that build wealth for women.
